Tefal (or T-fal) Nutricook 8.5-Quart Pressure Cooker is a perfect “marriage” among style, functionality and userbility. With four exclusive programmed settings, you can cook almost anything in this cooker with the best taste, texture and the maximum nutrients extracted from foods.

You’d save 70% of the cooking time, 50% in energy cost and enjoy more vitamin C and B6, omega 3, and digest carbohydrates more slowly to infuse your body with constant energy throughout the day.

Size, Capacity and Material

The generous 8.5-quart size can comfortably feed 5 to 8 people depending on the appetite. Even if you have a small family, you can still use it for cooking a batch of food to freeze in smaller portions for later use. Who needs the store-bought TV dinners when you can cook your own home-made ones?

Made of 18/10 stainless steel throughout, the cooker will last for years and years. With 10” in diameter, the cooker is designed with a straight line that will compliment any modern kitchen décor. A green band on top of the lid makes it pop with color of vitality.

Safety Features

The T-fal Nutricook is equipped with five safety devices to prevent overpressure and the secured locked lid. It’s designed to cook on all hobs, including induction.

The pressure cooker features a two-step cooking process to prevent the possibility of overcooking. The cooker is heated on high to reach to pressure when it beeps for you to turn down the heat to maintain pressure. It will beep once again when the cooking is completed.

3 Handles

This model comes with two short handles on either side for easy transport and one top handle to close and lock the lid.

Release Pressure with a Touch of a Button

The pressure can be released automatically by turning the arrow on top of the lid toward the “steam” icon. You’ll see steam come out upward from the pressure regulator vent steam.

A removable timer is a handy feature to set the cooking time upon selecting the appropriate menu option.

Easy to Use and Clean

I’d give this pressure cooker an A+ for userability. First off, the lid is closed by placing it on top of the pot and pressing the top handle down. Then choose one of the four menu settings from “vegetables”, “grains”, “meat” to “fish”. Set the timer to the minutes per the recipe. Place the cooker on high heat and waiting for the first beep to adjust the heat down to maintain pressure. When the second beep sounds off, it’s your cue to turn off the heat and release the pressure.

Cleaning is a snap. All parts except the timer and the gasket are dishwasher safe. Optionally you can wash it by hand in warm water with mild soap.

A steaming basket and a recipe book containing 60 recipes in color.

Consumer Ratings

This pressure cooker was recently introduced to the American consumer market. Therefore no online reviews are available at this point. I’ll update this section in the near future.

  • Stylish, functional and durable
  • Large capacity to cook all sorts of dishes
  • Simplistic menu options take all the fear and guesswork out of using a pressure cooker.
  • The four pre-programmed menu options meet most of your cooking needs.
  • Designed and made in France by a well-known name Tefal in cookware and small appliances.
  • The steamer is made of stainless steel and it is more substantial than a lot of pressure cookers on the market. The base of the basket is removable for easy cleaning.
  • The timer is a very convenient feature.

  • Ease of use and cleaning do come with a high price tag.
  • Can’t find a copy of the User Manual in English and an infomercial video by Tefal didn’t go into details to show the features of the product.

Warranty and Replacement Parts

10 year warranty on metal structure and 1 year on all other parts.

It’s priced on the high end in the pressure cooker market.

Final Thoughts

The question you might have is whether or not it’s worth the price. Well, the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. If style and easy-to-use features are what you are after, this is a beautiful yet safe pressure cooker that’s effortless to use. Assuming an average take-out dinner costs about $30 to feed a medium-sized family, you’d recoup the cost in no time. The benefit from eating healthier foods is intangible, isn’t it?
